Day 1

Arrival in Apulia

The group arrives independently in Apulia, transfer to the accommodation, check-in and welcome dinner. Overnight stay.

Day 2

Lecce and Otranto

Breakfast in your lodging. Meeting with the tour guide and departure to Lecce, the Salentine district town defined as “The Florence of the South” for its splendid baroque style. Nice walk through the narrow lanes, the noble palaces and the handicraft shops of papiermaché. Free time to do some shopping and for your independent lunch. In the afternoon you will head for Otranto, Italy’s most Eastern town, and you will visit the historic centre. Return to your accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3

Castellana Grotte, Alberobello and Ostuni

Breakfast in your lodging. Meeting with the tour guide and departure to the Castellana Caves, famous grottoes of karst origin. After the cave visit, you will head for Alberobello, the city of the “trulli”, today UNESCO world heritage, lunch in a restaurant. Nice walk in the historic centre and short free time to do some shopping. In the late afternoon the group will head for Ostuni, the famous “white city”. Nice walk in the historic centre, visitation of the cathedral, magnificent example of Gothic and Romanesque architecture. Return to the accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4

Santa CesareaTerme, Castro and “pizzica and tambourine” lesson

Breakfast in your lodging. Meeting with the tour guide and departure to Santa CesareaTerme, well-known thermal locality on the Adriatic seashore; short seaside walk. Thereafter the group will head for Castro. Nice walk in the historic centre where you can admire the medieval castle, the cathedral and enjoy stunning views. Free time to do some shopping. Lunch in restaurant. In the afternoon short Salentine “pizzica” lesson: professional dancing masters will illustrate you the history of “pizzica” and its instrument par excellence, the tambourine, and in the end you will learn the steps of this courtship dance. Dinner with dancing party and overnight stay.

Day 5

: Galatina and the“Grecìasalentina” (Salentine Greek-speaking land)

Breakfast in your lodging. Meeting with the tour guide and departure to Galatina, famous city for the St. Peter & Paul’s church and for the “tarantism” rite, which is at the basis of the “pizzica” dance. Free time to do some shopping and for an independent lunch. In the afternoon visitation of some townships of the “Grecìasalentina”, like Coriglianod’Otrantowith its castle, Martano with its historic centre andCarpignano Salentino. Return to the accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6

Gallipoli and Santa Maria di Leuca

Breakfast in your lodging. Meeting with the tour guide and departure to Gallipoli, the “beautiful town”, once an ancient fishing village, and visit of the historic centre. Free time to do some shopping and for an independent lunch. In the afternoon the group will head for Santa Maria di Leuca, Italy’s extreme land strip, site of the “Finibus Terrae” church. The trip continues along the Adriatic seashore for a short stop on the bridge “Ponte Ciolo” and return to the hotel, goodbye dinner and overnight stay.
